Homemade hamburgers with condiments

How to make beef burgers

  1. Add the eggs and seasonings to a large bowl that will be large enough to fit the ground beef.
  2. Mix together until well combined. The color will be reddish because of the paprika
  3. Add in the ground beef and the breadcrumbs. Please note I am using frozen ground beef here that's been thawed, which is why the color is darker.
  4. Mix with your hands until the beef and breadcrumbs are well incorporated.

  • Gently shape the mixture into 4 patties. Use your thumb to press down in the center of each patty to create an indent.
  • Refrigerate the patties for 20-30 minutes. It really helps it hold its shape when grilling.

  • Preheat the grill or grill pan to medium heat and oil the grates or pan. Cook the burgers for 4-5 minutes per side until they reach the desired doneness.
  • Allow the burgers to rest for a few minutes, then serve with your favorite condiments.

Tips for making burgers

  1. Make an indent in the center of each patty. This will help the burgers to cook evenly and will prevent shrinkage.
  2. Use your hands to mix the the patties. It's a little messier but the ingredients will combine much easier this way. You can wear tight fitting plastic gloves to keep your hands clean if you like.
  3. Don't over mix the burger mixture. Everything should be just combined. If you over mix, the burgers can become tough and chewy. Mixing them with your hands will help you not to over mix.
  4. Refrigerate the burger patties immediately after forming them. This helps with two things. First, it helps keep the patty formation. Second, it helps to limit moisture on the burger which allows means it will cook faster, which over-cooking.
  5. Once on the grill, don't flatten the burger with a spatula. When you do this the meat will lose some of its juices. Just flip them, don't be tempted to press them down.
